Myulchu Korean Anchovies Onigiri

Onigiri is a triangle shaped sushi wrapped in Japanese seaweed. Onigiri is my favourite food to pack for work lunch, road trips and picnic. You can actually make onigiri a day in advance and just pack them in your bento lunch.

Gimbap is a korean style sushi roll where gim means seaweed and bap means rice. It is very different from the Japanese sushi because Gimbap uses only sesame oil and salt to season its rice while Japanese sushi uses sugar, salt and vingar.

Italian salad is quick and easy to make and is very refreshing to serve before your main. Any veggies can go into the salad and a typical Italian salad will have olives in it. Italian salad using a vinaigrette-based dressing to keep it light and appetising and it usually doesn’t contain any meat.

Carbonara is a very classic and traditional pasta dish of Italy. It is made using eggs, cured pork fats and hard cheese and seasoned with black pepper. The traditional recipe doesn’t call for cream however I like to add cream for a cheat version to make heavy.

Shrimp scampi is actually an Italian – American dish and it is orignally using langostines instead of shrimps. Shrimps are easily available as compared to langostines hence it is now more often using shrimps for cooking scrampi.

Asari butter is a Japanese style stir fried clams dish with sake and finish with a knob of butter. It a very straightforward dish and is extremely easy to prepare. It is very flavourful and goes well with rice.

Yakisobo is a Japanese stir fried noodles with assorted vegetables and meat. It looks very much like our yellow noodles except that soba is made from buckwheat. It is a very versatile noodle dish which you can customise the ingredients to your preference.

Nasu Dengaku is a traditional classic Japanese side dish. It is eggplant cut into half and is grilled with a sweet miso glaze. It is extremely easy to make and looks very presentable for serving guests.

Soondubu Jjigae is one of the easiest Korean dish to make at home. All you need to do is to throw all the ingredients in the stone pot and let it simmer. It is a popular dish in Korea and the essence to making a good tofu stew is using quality soy bean paste and red pepper paste.

Kimchi is probably the most common and iconic dish of Korea and it is like a staple in Korean cuisine that you must have it when you are eating Korean food. It is a fermented salted vegetables usually made using napa cabbage.

Thai omelette is known for its fluffy texture and it is a very simple and easy dish to prepare at home. It is different from the normal omelette that we eat at Chinese zi char restaurant as Thai omelette requires a lot more oil to cook to create the fluffiness texture.

Pad Thai is a stir fried rice noodles that is tossed in a sweet and sour sauce along with ingredients such as chicken, tofu and vegetables. It is served with some raw beansprouts and lime at the side. If you do not like the taste of raw beansprouts, you can add in to cook.
