Asari Butter Japanese Sake Steamed Clams

Asari Butter

Asari butter is a Japanese style stir fried clams dish with sake and finish with a knob of butter. It a very straightforward dish and is extremely easy to prepare. It is very flavourful and goes well with rice.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 kg Clams
  • 2 tbsp Mirin
  • 3 Cloves Garlic Sliced
  • 2 tsp Soy Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 1 stalk Spring Onion Sliced
  • 1 wedge Lemon

Instructions
 

  • De-grit the clams (if required) by soaking the clams into water with some salt and let sit for about 15mins or longer then drain the clams of water.
  • Prepare by slicing garlic and heating up a pan with a lid till hot.
  • Add Oil and saute garlic until aromatic. Add in butter, soy, mirin and the clams and cover the pan and let steam through until all the clams are cooked.
  • Serve with garnish of lemon and spring onions.

Notes

  • You can use any type of clams
  • Make sure to soak clams in salt water at cold or room temperature to remove any soil or sands before cooking
