Team Building For a Good Cause

It has become increasingly popular for companies to incorporate CSR (corporate social responsibility) programs as part of their team building activities. Bake for a good cause

Macaron Baking Session

Your team can help to raise funds for a charity organisation by organising a bake sale in the company. During Chinese New Year, companies will organise a team bake off session to make Chinese New Year goodies such as pineapple tarts, chocolate chip cookies and almond cookies for collect funds for charity donation. Your team will not only get to learn some baking skills and technique and at the same time they also get the opportunity to do something meaningful together. Your team can also liaise with the charity organisation to invite their beneficiaries to participate in the corporate baking class with your team. The beneficiaries will get to learn some life skills and bring home some yummy desserts after the baking workshop to share with their family.

Volunteer your services to cook a meal

There are a few charity organisations in Singapore that requires volunteers to help prepare, cook and distribute daily meals for their beneficiaries. All you need to do is to contact them to check on an available slot which you and your team can head down to their soup kitchen to help prepare the daily meals. If you and your team are not matured cooks and know nuts about cooking, you may want to sign them up for a cooking class at D’Open Kitchen before volunteering at the soup kitchen. Alternatively you can also gather your team for a corporate team building cooking class to prepare meals for the less privileged under the supervision of a professional chef at a cooking studio.

Beach clean-up

When we talked about a beach clean up, it doesn’t mean to clean up the beach but litter-picking at the beach. If sustainability is one of your company pillars, a beach clean up would be meaningful way to kickstart the employee’s effort on recycling and waste management to benefit our community and the environment. You would be surprised how much trash you and your team can pick up in a day at the beach!

Put on your best show

Do you have any hidden talents among your team? You can showcase your team’s talent by putting up a performance at a charity concert or an old folk’s home. It would be fun to bond with your colleagues over performance rehearsals where you get to interact with them at a personal level. It is a joy to make use of god’s talent for a good cause.

Spring cleaning

Spring cleaning doesn’t mean you can only do it for your own home. You can sign up with Lion Befrienders or any charity organisations for a spring cleaning initiative for seniors living alone or come from low-income households. You and your team can put down your laptops, gadgets and note pads and pick up some cleaning tools for project spring cleaning. Try to engage in small talks with the elderly with your team mates after the spring cleaning for some get-to know each other time.

I was a runner up in Singapore's Masterchef Competition Season 2. Cooking has been a passion of mine since I was young. I would always follow my grandma to the wet markets to buy groceries and watch her whip up amazing dishes. Always inspired by my grandma, I look to continue her journey in the culinary world.
